Uttarakhand State Development Council

Uttarakhand has emerged one of the fastest growing states in India, by virtue of the massive growth in capital investment arising from conducive industrial policy and huge tax benefits. Between 2015- 16 and 2019-20, the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) expanded at a CAGR of 9.39% to reach Rs. 2.54 trillion (US$ 35.99 billion). The state is blessed with natural resources due to its hills and forests. Its agro-climatic conditions support horticulture-based industries and plenty natural resources of water makes it an 'energy state' to tap the hydropower electric potential of over 25,000 MW. As of April 2019, Hydropower generation installed capacity in the state was recorded to be 1,815.69 MW.

Under the State's Vision 2030, The tourism sector is considering development of spiritual and religious theme-based circuits for tourism which will create more employment in the economy. Agriculture and MSME sectors also are expected massive expansion in the future which will help in the development of the State. Simultaneous efforts to develop two other sectors�renewable energy in the form of small hydro-power and expansion of IT to all parts of the state economy�will make the growth plan sustainable and strengthen its fundamentals.

Uttarakhand has been consistently ranked amongst the top states in India by DPIIT in its assessment for Ease of Doing Business and ranked no. 1 amongst hill states in India. Moreover, Uttarakhand ranks #1 in Export Preparedness Index 2020 under Himalayan states category. Total export from the state stood at US$ 2.28 billion during 2019-20.

ASSOCHAM Uttarakhand State Development Council aims to drive more initiatives to support its members, the industry at large, and the state Government to drive the socio-economic growth. Going forward, we will enhance our focus on policy advocacy, sector development and capacity building.

Our focus will be to give more fillip to Food Processing, IT& ITES, Tourism, Renewable Energy, Films & Entertainment, Electronics Manufacturing, MSME, Pharmaceuticals, Logistics & Warehousing, Export, Hotel Industry etc. by engaging with the Government and interfacing with Industry Leaders from these sectors in Uttarakhand.
